USE OF Azadirachta Indica AS GREEN CORROSION INHIBITOR AGAINST ALUMINUM IN ACIDIC MEDIUM

Abstract

Backgroundand Objective- Plants known for their magical and beneficial effects and uses; coffee makes you attentive, holy basil effective to prevent cancer and much more.  In this study, an attempt has been made to study the plants material which responsible for condensing metal corrosion. Selection of (Neem-Azadirachtaindica ) to studyinhibition against Aluminiumbased on the fact that their extracts were found to have tolerance to various oxidative conditions.

Material and Methods-Aluminium sheets (99.9%) were taken for the metal coupon, All analytical acids were used to perform the experiment. Weight loss method, GCMS analysis and surface morphology used to obtain results.

Results- TheNeem (AZI) works as an inhibitor in the acid surroundings. The results showed that the inhibition efficiency was increased by increasingthe inhibitor concentration and reached the maximum at 1000 p.m. (72hr)   in 1N HCl and H2SO4 and in HNO3 solution.

Conclusion- Neem observed as good inhibitor for aluminium corrosion in all acid medium on 250,500,750and 1000ppm concentration. The AZI   was found to follow Temkinadsorption isotherm with all the concentrations in different acidic mediums studied. The phenomenon of physical adsorption obtained and the process is spontaneous.
